£680,000 residential mortgage for barrister in Bristol

Location: Bristol

Loan Amount: £680,000

Finance Category: Residential Mortgage

The Story

An existing client had referred their barrister colleague to Fox Davidson due to our expertise in securing large loans for professionals.

In our first conversation with the client, we established that they had a requirement for three mortgages, as both they and their partner owned mortgaged property, which they wished to rent out and buy a new main residence in joint names, together.

The Challenge

The clients needed to refinance their existing main residences to buy-to-let mortgages.

Additionally, they wanted a mortgage on their joint purchase main residence to have some flexibility to allow them to take advantage of their considerable savings.

Furthermore, the client wanted the main residence mortgage on an interest-only basis using the sale of the buy-to-lets as the repayment vehicle for repaying the loan.

The Solution

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we were unable to meet the clients at our Bristol offices, so opted for a Zoom meeting instead.

Zoom has proven to be an excellent solution for our professional clients.

Many of our professional clients work long hours and don’t have much spare time to take out of their day.

A Zoom call first thing in the morning or at lunchtime grants us the flexibility to host meetings with people in various locations and with minimal disruption to our clients’ working day.

Zoom will continue to be a way of working at Fox Davidson, even when face-to-face meetings are allowed again.

Having all parties present was important as we shared ideas for the three mortgages.

In the end, we settled on working with the same lender for all three mortgages.

The lender was able to offer the same rate of interest across all three loans and an offset facility on the main residence.
